On Wednesday.september.27, we learned about the CD-ROM, Hard Drive, Thermal Compund and other intresting facts.

A Hard Drive is a magnetical media. It's a metallic platter that has millions of magnets in it. You should be very careful beacuse another magnet can actually damage your hard drive. A magnet has North or South, and using that, it could be read as on or off. So, 8 magnets in a hard drive is 1 bit.

The CD-ROM is a device that stores information. The pits is what allows it to store information. The laser inside the CD player bounces off the shiny surface of the CD and in doing so, if there was no pit it would be read as 0. If there was a pit it would be read as 1.

The 3 layers that are in a CD:
- Shiny layer
-Plastic layer
- Metal layer (inside)

In a CD there is about 700mb and 4.7 to 8gb in a DVD. Both the CD's and DVD's are called optical media/optical storage. Scratching a CD is not a very bright idea since it would defuse the light. However, you can fix this by the way Mr.Case suggested. That way is to fill in the scratch, rub wax or toothpaste across it.

Other Information:

- If you pull out the battery in the motherboard and then put it back in, all the setings of the BIOS would reset. The reason for that is the battery that's in the motherboard is what makes the BIOS work.

- If the CPU becomes too hot, it would cause your computer to just shut down. Thermal xompund helps to fix that beacuse it is like glue and it can prevent the CPU from turning too hot. Also a fan would really help.
